Esther (Verheye) Badman

Aug. 28, 1928 – Nov. 6, 2004

Esther Badman, 76, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who resided in South Bend, Ind., her entire life, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov.6, in Memorial Hospital.Her family was at her bedside at the time. Esther was born Aug.28, 1928, in South Bend.to the union of Camiel and Pauline (DeCook) Verheye.who both preceded her in death.Esther was a graduate of the old Washington High School and Vogue Beauty College.During her younger years, she worked at PI Genesis as a quality control inspector.

Esther was united in holy matrimony in 1948 to Lowell Badman, who survives. Others left to treasure her loving memories are her children, Linda Atwell of Naperville, Ill., Sherri Badman of South Bend and Paul (Kay) Badman of Michigan;seven grandchildren, Dr. Brian (Dr. Grace) Badman of Florida, Amiee Framtom of South Bend, 1st.Lt.John Atwell of Kuwait, Kellee (Jay) Hamel of Mishawaka, Ind., Jennifer Atwell of Naperville, Nicholas Badman of Mishawaka and Alyssa Badman of Mishawaka; and two step-grandchildren, Marc and Justin Hopkins of Michigan.She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alexandrea, Jacob, Alexis and Alexander.

Esther was known as being the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother one could imagine.She devoted her entire life to her family and helping others.She loved to have family gatherings and working in her yard, which was embellished with all her years of hard work and displayed all of her beautiful plants, trees and flowers.Her home was decorated beautifully for every holiday, Christmas being her favorite.Life, love and happiness filled her home.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov.11, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov.12, in St.Hedwig Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St.Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
