Casimer J. Deranek, 92 years old, passed away on December 19, 2024 at Hubbard Hill in Elkhart, IN.
Casimer was born on March 4, 1932, in South Bend, IN to Chester and Helen (Grzeszczyk) Deranek. He was a devoted husband for 18 years to Shirley (King) Deranek before her passing on May 7, 2007. Casimer was also preceded in death by his brother Leonard Deranek and his sister Virginia Wesolowski. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Darlene Cain; nephews John Wesolowski (Dale Barnette), Bob (Bonnie) Wesolowski, Mark Wesolowski and Tim (Sara) Deranek; nieces Michelle (Delbert) Wilson, Jackie (Bob) Kapiszka and Ann (Jerry) Blanchard; along with five stepchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Casimer was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He attended St. Adalbert's Parish School and Washington High School. He worked at Uniroyal, Torrington Company, and the South Bend Community School Corporation. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably during the Korean War as a linesman.
Casimer was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church whose life was guided by his strong Catholic faith. He was a caring and compassionate man who always took care of his family, especially the many years he was a loving caregiver for his mother and then his wife in his home until their deaths.
Casimer was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 284 and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for Notre Dame Football and the Chicago Cubs.
Casimer's Family will receive visitors at St. Joseph Funeral home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, South Bend, IN on Sunday of December 22 from 2pm to 5pm and rosary will be prayed at 4:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, on Monday of December 23 starting at 11am with a half hour visitation before.
Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow the service at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert's Catholic Church.
