Carol (Chandonia) Hoyes Strickler

Carol (Chandonia) Hoyes Strickler, 53, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2005, in her Falls Church, VA, home after battling cancer. Carol was born to Jon and Eugenia Groff Chandonia on July 25, 1951, in South Bend, IN, where she resided until she relocated to northern Virginia in 1981. Her father preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1990.

Carol attended Washington High School in South Bend and earned an associate degree in business administration from Strayer University in Arlington, Va. She worked for 17 years as an office manager at INS in Arlington. Carol  was also a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are Carol's husband of three years, Michael Strickler of Falls Church; her daughters, Theresa Hoyes Brady of South Bend and Claudette Hoyes of Alexandria, Va.; and her grandchildren, Timothy and Samantha Brady of South Bend, and Joshua Smith of Alexandria. Also surviving are her sisters, Sheila Chandonia Baroody of Winchester, Va., Connie Chandonia Curtis of Mishawaka, IN, and Claudette Chandonia of Annadale, Va.; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, in Murphy Funeral Home, 1120 West Broad Street, Falls Church, Va. Burial will follow at Columbia Gardens, 3411 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, Va. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Carol may be made to the American Lung Association.
