Clifford Harris
September 26, 1954 - June 15, 2024
Clifford Harris, age 69, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, at Tidewell Hospice Sarasota Hospice House. Born in Gary, Indiana, on September 26, 1954, Clifford led a life filled with love, dedication, and service.
Clifford is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Harris; his children, Jason Harris and Jeffery Harris (Ellie); and his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Joshua, Elijah, and Camden Harris. He is also survived by his siblings, Beatrice Wakefield, Roberta Sharp, Richard, Kenith, Roy, and Carl. He was preceded in death by his brothers James, Robert, and Clayborn, and his sisters Brenda and Dorothy.
A graduate of Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana, Clifford went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. He later dedicated over 30 years of his career to Honeywell, where he was respected for his hard work and integrity.
Clifford was an avid photographer, known especially for capturing the excitement of University of Notre Dame football games. Additionally, he was one of the University of Notre Dame Band photographers, a role that brought him great joy and allowed him to showcase his artistic talents. His passion for sports extended to coaching his sons' various teams, and he enjoyed many hours playing basketball. Beyond his hobbies, Clifford generously donated his photography services to various charitable organizations, leaving a lasting impact on his community.
Known affectionately as a gentle giant, Clifford stood tall at 6’4”, but it was his radiant smile and warm heart that truly defined him. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him, and he will be remembered for his kindness and unwavering support.
A graveside prayer service will be held at the University of Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date to honor Clifford’s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Tidewell Hospice Sarasota Hospice House, in recognition of the compassionate care they provided.
Clifford Harris’s life was a testament to love, service, and the beauty of a well-lived life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
