Clem Henry Litka Sr.

SOUTH BEND - Clem H. Litka, Sr., 92, passed away at 6:30 am on Saturday, July 28, 2012 in his home. Clem was born on January 30, 1920 to the late Casimir and Sabina (Walowski) Litka. Clem was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Litka; granddaughter, Laurie Szymczak Thornton; sister, Alfrieda Micinski; and brothers, Joseph and Marion.

On November 26, 1942, Clem married Lottie B. (Przybylski); she survives along with daughter, Michelene (Michael) Szymczak; son, Clem (Peggy) Litka, Jr.; six grandchildren, David (Sheila) Szymczak, Patrick (Tracy) Szymczak, Cortney (Jeff) Couture, Ryanne (Matt) Johns, Casey Litka, Aimee (Steve) Niespodziany; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Regina Giczi.

Clem honorable served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corp of Engineers during World War II, worked for 25 years at Studebaker and White Farm, and retired from the US Postal Service in 1985 after 17 years of service. He was an usher at Notre Dame, and an active supporter of the west side men's basketball league. Clem was a parishioner at St. Adalbert Catholic Church where he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was an honorable member of American Legion Post 357.
