Janet Virginia (Zarobinski) Futa

Janet Virginia Futa, 90, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton.
Janet was born on January 28, 1935 in South Bend to the late Casimir and Virginia (Mackowski) Zarobinski. On February 20, 1954, Janet married the love of her life, Paul Futa, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2010. Janet is also preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Wieczorek.
Left to cherish their memories of Janet are her children, Gale (Herman) Brinkhoff, Marlene (Keith, Sr.) Werwas, Paul (Kathy) Futa, Jr.; grandchildren:; Amy (James) Houser, Andy (Julie) Brinkhoff, Melanie (Dale) Groves, Keith (Mollie) Werwas, Jr., Steven (Dominique (Nishiu)) Futa, Stephanie (Luke) Carter, great-grandchildren; Aubrey (Nick Scheel) Houser, Abigail (fiancé Andrew Lorig) Houser, Will Brinkhoff, Ajay Brinkhoff, Allie Brinkhoff, Gabriel Groves, Harrison Groves, Bryce Futa, Bridgette Futa, Bailey Futa, Sophia Futa, Madison Futa, Scarlett Carter, Elliott Carter; sister, Georgianne (Ronald, Sr.) Compton, brother-in-law, Chester Wieczorek, sister-in-law, Loretta Futa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet graduated from Washington High School, class of 1953. She was a proud member of the Paul Futa Family Affair Band where she played the accordion. Janet was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Walkerton, IN. She had a passion for Polka Music, playing and dancing. Janet had an extended Polka family with whom she enjoyed spending time. Everyone who met her loved her. Janet was dedicated to her family, and her love for them was endless.
Visitation will be held 2:00pm-8:00pm EST, Sunday, December 14, 2025 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN 46619. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am EST, Monday, December 15, 2025 with a 1-hour visitation prior to the mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd., South Bend, IN 46619. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
