William Devon “Red” Marvin

SOUTH BEND - William “Red” Marvin, 83, of South Bend passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend with his family by his side.

He was born on September 7, 1934 in South Bend to the late Glenn E. and Marian A. (Ellis) Marvin.

On February 2, 1957 in South Bend he married Barbara A. Bokory, who preceded him in death on June 20, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his son, David J. Marvin on September 19, 2017; a sister, Martha Jane Melton; and a brother, Burl Marvin.

Red is survived by his daughter, Debra J. Shidaker of South Bend; two sons, Gregg W. Marvin and Gary W. (Lancie) Marvin both of South Bend, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Joyce White of Florence, AL and Phyllis Casper of Mishawaka; and a brother, Jerry Marvin of Elkhart.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After the service Red started up his own company, Asphalt Engineers, where he not only ran the company but enjoyed working at for 34 years.

When Red wasn't working he enjoyed going bowling and spending time with his family, whom he loved and cherished.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 22 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” located at State Rd. 23/W. Ireland Rd., South Bend. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, April 23 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
