J. Earl Ford

James "Earl" Ford, 69, of Butternut Road in South Bend, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, July 20, in his residence. Earl was born December 25, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana, to John and Eva (Herndon) Ford. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Delbert and Wayne Ford.
On September 1, 1961, Earl married the former Ms. Patricia Jones. Pat survives, along with their son, Keith Ford of South Bend; a brother, Kenneth Ford and his wife, Carol of Lavonia, Georgia; and three sisters, Fae Wilkins, and Marie Jordan and her husband, Glen of Kokomo, Ind., and Eunice Aftowski of South Bend.
Visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 23, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, with funeral services beginning at 3 p.m.
Following his graduation from Washington High School in South Bend, Earl served his country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves, being honorably discharged in 1972. He was employed by Hughes Mayflower Transit for 42 years until his retirement. Earl was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 364 for many years.
Due to his love for dogs, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Pet Refuge or to the St. Joseph County Humane Society
