Shalonda Lewis, born Shalonda Davis on April 11, 1976, in Columbus, OH, was a beacon of light whose radiance touched everyone she came across. Shalonda was a woman who made everyone feel loved, understood, and valued. She spent her lifetime spreading love and joy, influencing everyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path. Her journey came to a close on June 24, 2026, in South Bend, Indiana, where she resided.
Shalonda was a dedicated and hardworking. After graduating from Washington High School in 1995, she embarked on a long, rewarding career. She contributed notably to Locke Joint Tube and the South Bend Community School Corporation's Transportation department and was a loyal employee of McCormick & Company Inc. for an impressive 19 years. Shalonda was most proud of her accomplishments as an author as she also authored two books, one of which is titled "A Piece of My Love," a testament to her creativity, resilience, and ability to touch hearts through her words.
Shalonda leaves behind to treasure her memories, her beloved husband, James Lewis Jr., her children, Robert (Ashley) Jr., John (Haiven) King Jr., both of South Bend, IN., and Alisha Lewis of East Chicago, IN; her mother in law, Arlene Frazier of East Chicago, IN., her Godmother, Sherry Phillips of South Bend, IN., her grandchildren, Mikel and Adrianna Lewis, Raekwon Coats, Kameila and Zahara Flowers and Baby John on the way; her siblings, Reba Williams and Charlette James of South Bend, IN., and Eddie Davenport Jr., of East Chicago, IN., her aunt Kim Starr and uncle Rickey Starr of Columbus, OH., a best friend, Jackie Scroggins of South Bend, IN., as well as a host of cousins, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Valerie Davis; her grandmother, Ora Lee Davis; her father-in-law, James Lewis Sr.; her son, James Lewis III; and her sister-in-law, Tameika Lewis.
Shalonda will always be remembered as a woman with a heart as vast as the ocean, her love and compassion knew no bounds.
The life and legacy of Shalonda will be celebrated on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 11:00am EDT at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1620 South Saint Joseph Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46613. As we gather to remember Shalonda, let us not forget the love and positivity she embodied.
