Irene S (Przybylski) Szymanski

Irene Szymanski, 95 years old, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Center for Hospice in Mishawaka, IN. Irene was born on January 28, 1928 in South Bend to the late John and Tillie (Ludwikowski) Przybylski.

On September 7, 1947, Irene married the love of her life, Daniel Szymanski, who preceded her in death. Irene was also preceded in death by her sons, Chris Szymanski and David Szymanski; her grandson, Erik Szymanski; and her brother, Clem Przybylski.

Irene is survived by her Daughter-in-Law, Peggy Szymanski; granddaughter, Heather Szymanski, and her great-grandson, Devin Szymanski.

Irene worked at Bendix and then at Schafer Gear, where she retired. She was a member of the Local PNA #83, American Legion Post 284 and 357, and she attended Holy Family Parish. Irene loved playing cards – especially euchre and poker with her friends. She loved reading her romance novels, dancing the polka, and teaching her grandkids how to speak polish. Irene also enjoyed cooking immensely, and using her green thumb with all of her plants. Irene also loved going camping in her RV with Daniel - especially to Arizona and Florida for the winter. Above all, Irene loved her grandkids.

The family would like to thank Terry Heckman, who was like a daughter to Irene. She was such a great comfort for Irene in the care she provided her. They would also like to thank Irene's caregivers, Alice and Virginia for their exceptional care of Irene.

The family will be hosting a private entombment at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend at a later date. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
