Arthur Donald O'Chap

Arthur O'Chap, 97, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 in South Bend.
Arthur was born on September 06, 1927 in to the late Joseph and Bernice (Lagocki) O'Chap. He is also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Lucille (Sobieralski) O’Chap in May of 1968; 2nd wife, Marjorie (Shields) O’Chap in January of 2000; and 3rd. wife, Christine Kaczmierzak in August of 2000; special friend, Delphine Mutchler in August of 2024; brother, Eugene O’Chap in May of 1997; and a stepson, Stephen David Shields in July 1989.
Art proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Washington High School. Art retired from Mohawk Flush Doors after 33 years of service. He enjoyed baseball, softball, horseshoes, and woodworking. Art was a parishioner of St Patrick/St. Hedwig Catholic Church.
Left to cherish the memory of Art are his children, Maxine (Karen) O’Chap, Dale (Julie) O’Chap, Kevin (Stan) O’Chap; grandchildren, Ana (Jeff) Everett, Monica (Tim) Foley, and Bradley (Ashley) O’Chap; great-grandchildren, Reagan & Ethan Everett, and Olivia O’Chap.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, with visitation 1 hour prior at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor St., South Bend, IN 46601. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net.
