Esther Kay (Molnar) Chwalek

April 7, 1928 – Dec. 17, 2006 SOUTH BEND — Esther Chwalek, 78, of South Bend, passed away at 5:15 p.m.on Sunday, Dec.17, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Esther was born on April 7, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Katherine (Hegedus) Molnar Jr.

On January 19, 1947, she married Edward M. Chwalek in South Bend, who passed away on October 7, 1996.She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Derek Mills.

She is survived by her two children, Michelle (Stephen) Vascil of Granger and Donald (Rose) Chwalek of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Christine (Chad) Beachy, Stephen (Jennifer) Vascil, Edward (Lori) Chwalek, Nicole (Rick Evans) Chwalek, Shane Flowers, Dustin Mills and David (Jennifer) Mills; five great- grandchildren, Marisa Chwalek, Alexis Chwalek, Nicolas Russo, Colin Vascil and Chase Beachy; and her sister, Josephine (Ron) Meiszberg of Kenosha, WI.

Esther retired in 1994 from Holy Cross Care Services as a nurse’s aide.She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
