SOUTH BEND Memorial services for Fred E. Van Rassen, 62, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of South Bend, who died July 4 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Fayetteville, N.C., will be announced at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Highland Funeral Service, Fayetteville, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Mr. Van Rassen retired as a tool and die maker. Born Aug. 17, 1027, in South Bend, he lived in this area until 1954, going to Toledo.
Surviving are two daughters, Janet Nuendorf of Sylvania, Ohio, and Diane Whitly of Toledo; three sons, Fred Jr. Las Vegas, Nev., David of Fayetteville, and Michael of Fort Bragg, N.C.; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ann Johnson of Dowagiac, Patricia Moore of South Bend, and Betty Jane Kepp of Moline, Ill.; and a brother, Frank Rassen of Mishawaka.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II
