August J.Ewald, 78, of Main Street in Mishawaka, died at 10:30 p.m.Thursday, November 18th, in his residence. He was born in South Bend on September 1, 1926, to Sylvester & Lottie (Sciba) Ewald.
August married the former Anna M.Kedik in St.Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend on May 29, 1948.He is survived by Anna, his wife of fifty-six years;a son, Gary (Diane) Ewald of Texas;and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr.Ewald was preceded in death by his parents;a brother, Daniel Ewald; and a daughter, Mary Ann Czajkowski, who died on August 11, 2004.
He retired as a letter carrier with the U.S.Postal Service after thirty years of service.He was a member of St.Monica Catholic Church.August was an avid bowler.
Friends called from 2 to 4 p.m.Sunday, November 21st, in Bubb Funeral Chapel North and a Mass of Christian Burial was held in St.Monica Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Monday.Burial followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St.Monica Catholic Church.
