Andrew DeVolder - Class Of 1945 VIEW PROFILE

 

Andrew R. DeVolder

DeVOLDER, Andrew R., age 82, of Portage, passed away suddenly on September 24, 2009 at his home. Andrew was born on October 28, 1926 in South Bend, IN, the son of the late Felix and Bertha (DeSplinter) DeVolder. Andrew was a Veteran of the US Army Medical Corp serving in the Korean War. He was a 1949 Graduate of Purdue University. Andrew retired from the Upjohn Company after 36 years of service. He was a charter member of St. Monica Catholic Church. Andrew was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Amrhein and a sister, Yvonne Strauch.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Alyce (Nycz) DeVolder to whom he married on November 23, 1950; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Amrhein of Portage; a granddaughter, Kelly Amrhein of Chicago, IL and a nephew, Mark Strauch of Maryland. Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at REDMOND Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 PM.

A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from 10-11:00 at. St. Monica Catholic Church, 534 W. Kilgore Road where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Fr. Larry Farrell Celebrant. A luncheon will be held in the Church's Community Building immediately following Mass. Entombment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, St. Monica Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
