Marilyn J. (Bieber) Shearman

Marilyn J. Shearman, 84, residing in Wauconda, IL and formerly of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in Wauconda Healthcare Centre.
She was born in Ft. Wayne, IN on October 28, 1927 to the late Elmer and Elizabeth (McFadden) Bieber.
On January 8, 1949 in the Central United Brethren Church in South Bend, Marilyn married Arthur E. Shearman, who preceded her in death on October 7, 2009 after more than 60 wonderful years together. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Jaime Roncal) Shearman of Island Lake, IL; son, Phillip (Debbie Drinkhorn) Shearman of Kenockee Township , MI; grandchildren, Marco Roncal, Monica Salinas, Rex Shearman, Marianela Spung and Laura Roncal; and great grandchildren, Sofia and Elizabeth Roncal and Morgan Spung.
Marilyn grew up in a strong, loving, and lively family. She is also survived by a sister, Jane (John) Thompson of Pansey, AL; and two brothers, Myron Bieber of Macedonia, OH and Dean (Margaret) Bieber of Big Stone Gap, VA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Bieber.
Nursing and service were her lifelong passions. Marilyn graduated from the Epworth Memorial School of Nursing in 1948. She retired in 1984 from Memorial Health Systems as a registered nurse. She formerly worked for the Elkhart General Hospital, South Bend Community School Corporation, Upjohn Home Health Care, and Miller's Merry Manor. Her nursing skill combined with her young spirit made summer camp nursing a favorite service of hers.
Marilyn was a charter member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in South Bend even before the church's corner stone was laid in 1972. She served in the church in many capacities from deaconess to exercise leader. She was an active former member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served for many years as a Pioneer Girls' Guide, Sunday school teacher, deaconess, and as youth leader with Arthur. She was also active in Covenant United Methodist Church in Dothan, AL as long as her health allowed. Marilyn volunteered for many years with SpringHill Camp in Evart, MI. Marilyn and Arthur were pleased to continue fulfilling their service calling after retirement by joining MMAP (Mobile Missionary Assistance Program) and contributing to 39 not-for-profit projects over a 16 year span.
Funeral services for Marilyn will be 11:00 am Monday, August 20, 2012 in Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, South Bend. Rev. James Fair and Rev. Steve Meck will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
