Alphonse M. Szymarek

SOUTH BEND - Alphonse M. Szymarek, 65, of West Indiana Avenue, died about 4:45 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Szymarek retired in 1982 as a dock workman for Tucker Freight Lines Inc. He was born June 23, 1924, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Aug. 3, 1946, in South Bend, he married Olga M. Klebusits. She survives with two daughters, Pamela Krawiec of New Carlisle and Susan Paris of South Bend; a son, Ronald, of South Bend; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Sylvester "Sally" of South Bend.

He was a member of Teamsters Local 364 and a veteran of World War II. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where Legion of Mary will say the rosary at 7 p.m.
