John Richard Niezgodski
Memorial services for John Richard Niezgodski, 61, of Bartow, Fla., formerly of South Bend, who died Sept. 15, 1987, in Winter Haven (Fla.) Hospital, were held Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Bartow. Cremation has taken place. Whidden Funeral Home, Bartow, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the American Cancer Society. Mr. Niezgodski retired in 1967 from the South Bend Police Department. He was born Jan. 8, 1926, in South Bend and lived in South Bend until moving to Florida five years ago.
On April 12, 1947, in South Bend, he married Loretta Lebiedzinski, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Heiser of Mishawaka and Janet DeBroka of Louisville, Ky.; a son, Richard, of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Kertesz of South Bend; and his mother, Rose Niezgodski of South Bend.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36, American Legion Post 3 in Bartow and the church.
