Ellen Margaret (Darmos) Kovach

SOUTH BEND - Ellen M. Kovach, 81, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, in the Saint Joseph Regional Med Center. Ellen was born on June 17, 1926, in South Bend, to Miklos and Clara Darmos. Ellen had been employed by Bendix, Our Lady of Hungary School and Oliver School. She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church and its St. Anne Society. Ellen loved her grandchildren and enjoyed recording classic movies. Autumn was her favorite time of the year; she loved to watch the leaves changing colors. Christmas was also a special season for her.

On September 11, 1948, in South Bend, she married Gene J. Kovach, who died on October 25, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son, Alan Kovach; a sister, Bette Malins; and a brother, Larry Darmos.

Surviving are a daughter, Ret. Commander USN Cindy (Chuck Fugate) Kovach of Belleville, IL; a son, Gary Kovach of South Bend; and three grandchildren, Justin Kovach of St. Petersburg, FL, Tracy Kovach and Jane Kovach, both of South Bend; and a daughter-in-law of Amy Barnett of St. Petersburg, FL.
