Robert J. Woodard
Services for Robert J. Woodard. 48, of 1137 South Bend Ave., who died Saturday, Apr 14, 1973, in a fishing accident in Chain-O-Lakes, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace A.M. E. Zion Church. Rev, Benjamin O. Berry, pastor of Alleyne A.M.E. Zion Church of Guyana, South America, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Clark's Funeral Chapel.
Woodard was employed by the South Bend Community School Corp. at Riley High School.
He was born Nov. 24. 1924. in South Bend, and had lived here all his life. On Dec. 14. 1946. in. South Bend, he married Evelyn Anderson. who survives. Also surviving are seven brothers, Fed of Cleveland. William and Joseph, both of Chicago, Simuel Jr. of Marion, and Peter, Albert and John, all of South Bend. and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Alford and Mrs. Rose Abrams, both of Chicago. and Mrs. Ursula Mills of Fort Worth, Tex.
Woodard was a member of Grace A.M.E. Zion Church: St. Peter's Lodge 31 of Prince Hall, F.& AM, and Wabash Consistory No. 77. He was a member of Local Board 72 of the Selective Service and an Army Veteran of World War II.
Masonic memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
