Lorraine Mary (Swartz) Swain

Lorraine Mary Swain of Modesto, CA. died Friday July 1 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. She was born in South Bend, IN to William and Mary Swartz. She married Donald Swain and together they raised three children. In 1982, she and Don retired to Modesto, CA. Don passed away in Modesto in August 2001. Lorraine and Don’s daughter Sandra Horvath passed away in 2013.

Lorraine was the past President of the Lady of Notre Dame Club. She loved bowling, watching the Cubs and Notre Dame games. She belonged to the Pearl Harbor Survivor’s Chapter 10 and was a member of the Modesto Senior Center where she played cards and bingo.

She is survived by her children, Donna Sawaya of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kenneth Swain (Judy) of Las Vegas, NV, and her son-in-law Wiley Horvath of Mishawaka, IN and sister-in-law Connie Swain of Modesto, CA. Lorraine is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, CA. Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House 2201 Euclid Ave., Hughson, CA 95326. www.cvobituaries.com
