Stanley Anthony Skowronek - Class Of 1943 VIEW PROFILE

 

Stanley Skowronek

Stanley Skowronek, 93, originally from South Bend, Indiana, died peacefully Friday, June 22, 2018 at the home of his son in Waverly, Ohio. Stanley was born August 13, 1924 in South Bend, Indiana, son of the late Stanley Skowronek and Bernice (Fabinczuk) Skowronek. He was drafted in 1943 into the U.S. Navy for WWII where he served on the Destroyer Escort USS Darby.

After an honorable discharge, Stanley returned to South Bend and worked at Bendix Aviation and Great Lakes Tool & Die as a lathe machinist. He retired from South Bend Community School System in operations.

Stanley preceded his wife Dorothy (Kaminski) Skowronek in death. They were married at St. Hedwig Church on October 16, 1954. Together, they started Anthony’s Antiques business that operated until their retirement in the 1990’s. He was also preceded in death by his son Michael Joseph Skowronek.

Surviving are his two sons, daughter, of Glencoe, Illinois, and four grandchildren.

Rosary Service will be held 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Queen of the Mission Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father Sean Dooley, officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will also be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in South Bend, Indiana with Father Cyril Hernandez and Father Cam, officiating. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #357.
