Loretta J. (Kitkowski) Wojciechowski

SOUTH BEND - Loretta J. Wojciechowski, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:19 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN, following a brief illness. She was born on September 1, 1924 to Frank and Walerya (Chmielewski) Kitkowski in South Bend, IN, where she was a lifelong resident. Loretta married Arthur J. Wojciechowski at St. Casimir Catholic Church on May 6, 1944. Loretta and Arthur had seven children (Cathy, Carolyn, David, Patricia, Suellen, William & Darryl).

Along with her parents, her husband, and two sons, David and William Wojciechowski preceded her in death. Arthur died in July 1963. William died in June 1970. David died in October 2002. Loretta is survived by five of her children: Cathy Kopinski of Granger, IN, Carolyn (Thomas) Haluda of South Bend, IN, Patricia (Robert) Zakrocki of Granger, IN, Suellen (John) Firtl of Granger, IN, & Darryl Wojciechowski of South Bend, IN; twelve grandchildren: Cherie VanLaere, Chad Kopinski, Carole Kopinski, Tracie Bedell, Jennifer Haluda, Wendy Haluda, Lisa Beber, Jessica Kerr, Sarah Firtl, Alex Firtl, Amy Wojciechowski, and Abby Cook; nine great-grandchildren: Ashley and Brianna VanLaere, Milena and Calvin Bedell, Benjamin and Samuel Beber, Emma Kerr, Kyle Wojciechowski, & Brody Cook; and a brother, Frank Kitkowski of South Bend, IN.

Loretta provided for her children by working as a fulltime bookkeeper at College Locker Plant, Indiana Club and South Bend Country Club. She also ran her own catering service working out of PNA Post 83, Holy Family, and St. Casimir Catholic Church. Mrs. Wojciechowski was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in South Bend, IN; and she belonged to various Senior Organizations in the community.
