Eugene S. Bonkowski

Eugene S. Bonkowski, 55, of 509 S. Edison, died at 6:30 p.mTTuesday at St. Josephs Hospital after a brief illness.

He was an inspector at the Torrington Co. Bonkowski was born on Jan. 3, 1924, in LaPorte and lived in South Bend for 52 years. On Sept. 4, 1948, in South Bend he married Helen Galeziewski who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cathi Sullivan and Mrs. Pam Briecker, both of South Bend; one grandchild and a sister, Mrs, Lucille Van Paris of South Bend, '

Services will be at 10 a m. Fnday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Philip G. Corbett, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery. Fnends may call from noon until 9 pm. Thursday at St. Joseph Funeral Home where the parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Bonkowski was a member of the Z.B. Falcons; Pulaski Post 357, American Legion; White Eagle Chapter 39, Disabled American Veterans; St. Joseph Young Mens Society and was an Army veteran of World War II.
