Frank Vellner
SOUTH BEND - Memorial services for Frank Vellner, 66, of 162 W. Catalpa SL, Mishawaka, who died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital, will be at 6 p.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, South Bend Cremation will take place with private graveside services in SL Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William SL, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to SL Joseph County Cancer Society or to the church.
Mr. Vellner retired in 1969 from the South Bend Police Department after 20 years of service and was a News Department employee of WSBT from 1969 to 1985.
He was born March 19, 1923, in Worthington, W.Va., and lived in South Bend since 1930, coming from Worthington On Aug. 16, 1947, in South Bend, he married Lucy I. Robinson, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Lynne Switalski of Granger; two sons, Joseph EL and Thomas A., both of Mishawaka; and three grandchildren
He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Lutheran Church and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36.
