Richard J. Kaczmarek

Richard J. Kaczmarek, 62, of 1514 Musgrave Court, died Friday, Feb 6, 1987, in his home. The death is being investigated by city police as an apparent suicide. He retired March 31, 1984, as an inspector for the South Bend Fire Department, after 28 years service. He was a former employee of the Studebaker Corp. He was born July 15, 1924, in South Bend, and lived in the area all his life.

On Jan. 10, 1948, in South Bend, he married Evelyn Kaszina. She survives with three daughters, Vicki Balsbaugh of Dowagiac, Carol Whittaker of Mishawaka and Doreen Kaczmarek of Peru, Ind; a son, Nick of Osceola; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Falda of South Bend; and a brother, Ervln of Fort Myers, Fla.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home.

He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, American Legion Pulaski Post 397 and the International Association of Firefighters. He was an Army veteran of World War II
