Dorothy P. (Johnson) Szabo

SOUTH BEND - Dorothy P. (Johnson) Szabo, 85, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009, in her residence. Dorothy was born on December 16, 1923, in South Bend, to William and Helen (Nowostawski) Johnson. Mrs. Szabo was employed by Studebaker and was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. She was also a volunteer for St. Joseph Hospital Women's Auxiliary for over 40 years.

On June 2, 1945, as Dorothy Johnson, she married Emery M. "Mac" Szabo. He died on May 11, 1998. Surviving are two sons, Mark A. Szabo of South Bend and Craig W. (Nancy) Szabo of Mishawaka; and a grandson, Adam Szabo of Jacksonville, FL.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Entombment of her ashes will follow at Highland Cemetery. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
