Beatrice L. Butler, 81, of Mishawaka Road, Elkhart, Ind., died at 9:50 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21 , in Hospice House. She was bom in South Bend, Ind., on Dec. 1, 1920, and had been a lifetime area resident. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, Cloyse and Georgia (Sutton) Emerick; and three brothers, Melvin, Jack and Robert Emerick.

She married Collins E. "Buzz" Butler Jr. in South Bend on Nov. 2, 1940. Buzz died on April 24, 1990.

Beatrice was a self-employed beautician in Mishawaka for many years. After Buzz and Bea retired in 1975, they traveled around the country in their Winnebago during the winter months. Their favorite spot was Las Vegas, Nev., where they enjoyed the fun, food and the nickel slot machines. Bea also enjoyed fishing, crocheting and the penny-ante Saturday night poker games with her brother Jack and his wife. It was a ritual that was rarely ever missed.

Mrs. Butler is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Butler of Elkhart; her son, Jeff (Andrea ) Butler of South Bend; her brother, Harry (Evelyn) Emerick of Crumstown, Ind.; and by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, with Fr. Barry England officiating. Her final resting place will be with her husband Buzz at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
