SOUTH BEND - Henry E. Claeys, 69, of South Pulaski StreeL died at 9:07 p.m. Tuesday in Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, after an illness. Mr. Claeys was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was born Oct 10, 1921, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident He is survived by four daughters, Pamela Claeys, Ruth Claeys, and Judith Ryll all of South Bend, and Carole Hall of Crown Point Ind.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Kubiak of South Bend.

He was a veteran of World War II and received two Purple Hearts. He was a member of American Legion Pulaski Post 357, 40 & 8 Club, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1107 and St. Stephens Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in SL Joseph Funeral Home..
