SOUTH BEND - John Wells Jr., 58, of 116 LaPorte Ave., died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday in St.
Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Wells was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Duluth, Ga., and had lived in South Bend since 1943, coming from Duluth. On Aug.
29, 1971, in South Bend, he married Melinda Ross. She survives with three daughters, Izola Wells of South Bend, Rochelle Wells and Misty Wells, both of Indianapolis; three sons, Eddie and Marcus, both of South Bend, and Emile of Utah; 12 grandchildren; his father and stepmother, John Sr. and Helen of South Bend; three sisters, Annie Thomas, Betty Pope and Doris Ross, all of South Bend; and a brother, Willie of Salinas, Calif.
Two sons, John E. III and Willie, preceded him in death.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Alford's Mortuary, Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home
