Richard Francis Piekarski

Richard Francis Piekarski, 80, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017. He was born in South Bend, IN on October 5, 1936, son of the late Stanley and Helen (Kitkowski) Piekarski. Richard was a tireless worker, and retired from Rochester Midland, in Rochester, NY. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, traveling, attending sporting events, concerts and the Philharmonic. Musical talent is predominant in his family, and Richard himself was a talented jazz drummer. He was an excellent cook, and a man who didn't know a stranger. He was one of those rare people who always thought of others before himself. More than anything, Richard loved being dad, and was the most warm and compassionate person you would ever meet.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Marcia (Radecki) Piekarski; children, Kevin (Kerri) Piekarski, Bryan (Karen) Piekarski, Mark Piekarski; grandchildren, Brent, Branden, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Justin Jr. and Jackson; and siblings, Christine (Richard) Sobczak, and Thomas (Gloria) Piekarski.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Piekarski.

A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 11 AM with Pastor Thomas Piekarski officiating at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Chapel 1320 E. Dupont Road Fort Wayne, IN 46825 with calling 1 hour prior. A Memorial Visitation will take place on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 4-8PM also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee
