Annie Mae Graham (Moore)

Annie Mae (Graham) Moore

January 30, 1936 ~ September 20, 2024 (age 88)

Annie Mae Moore, a charismatic beacon of light born on January 30, 1936, in New Albany, Mississippi, passed away on September 20, 2024, at her home in Cincinnati. She was a woman of wisdom and joy. She also was thoughtful, and she operated as a pillar of strength to all who knew her. She brought laughter into every room, and her thoughtful nature made everyone feel loved and cherished.

Annie was a woman of many talents. More specifically, she was a renaissance woman who shone brightly in every role she undertook, from being a dedicated housewife, a skilled secretary, to becoming the first Black supervisor at the Federal Reserve in Milwaukee. She had an engaging personality and a remarkable memory that made her the life of every gathering. She was a passionate music lover. For instance, she was proud of her role as a lead trombone player in the South Bend Washington High School Marching Band.

Annie was also a huge sports enthusiast, winning several bowling tournaments and cheering either in person or around a TV screen for her favorite teams. To continue her renaissance theme, she earned high achievements honors in her workplaces, and her support of family was unparalleled. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Samuel Moore, and a devoted mother to her three sons, Terence, Dennis (Stephanie) and Darrell. She was also a proud grandmother to Brittany (Ryan), Sam R. and Jade and a loving great-grandmother to Preston, Sharlinda, Ophira and Jaidyn.

Annie was deeply spiritual, regularly attending Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church as a youth in South Bend, Indiana. She continued her prayful life through the decades after Samuel, her husband of 62 years, was transferred with the family as an At&T supervisor and later manager from South Bend to Cincinnati to Chicago and then to Milwaukee. Annie and Samuel eventually moved to Brownsburg, Indiana, where Samuel died in October 2016. Slightly less than two years later, Annie moved back to Cincinnati, where she was able to bless more family members.

In Annie's spirit, we remember the verse from Psalms 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters." This verse truly captures Annie's faith, her love for life, and her belief in the goodness of people.

Annie lived her life to the fullest, impacting everyone who entered her world. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched. In addition to her husband, Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Mariah Graham, and brothers Joe Nathan, John (Wauline), Charlie (Josie), James (Janie) and Larry and sisters Flossie (Ralph), Inez (Edgar), Lorene (Leroy) and Henrietta (Eddie Lee).

A service will be held for Annie at the Greater St John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 North Adams Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46628, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 10:00 am EDT. We invite you to share your memories and pictures of Annie on her memorial page. Let's celebrate the life of this unique woman, Annie Moore, and keep her spirit alive in our hearts.
