Lillian Rose (Bartkowiak) Skarbek

GRANGER, IN. -- Lillian Rose Skarbek, 93, of Granger, Indiana passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020. She was born on November 21, 1926 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Sylvester and Marie (Jerzakowski) Bartkowiak. On August 2, 1947 she married Albert Skarbek who preceded her in death on December 21, 2010.

Lillian is survived by five daughters; Diana (Ron) Blosser, Agnes (Dan) Todd, Karen Harness, Ann (Kevin) Jackman, and Denise (Jim) Skarbek, two sons, Norbert (Kathy) Skarbek, Michael Skarbek, 16 grandchildren; Tasha Kunert, Brian (Julie) Blosser, Jeremy (Robin) Blosser, Christopher (Danielle) Blosser, Kimberly (Craig) Harness-Comstock, Kyla (Ian) Harness, Sara (Justin) Longtin, David Todd, Danielle Todd, Joseph Kozakiewicz, Kelly (Tyler) Rayl, Adam Skarbek, Elizabeth Skarbek, Alex Skarbek, Melissa Skarbek, and Michelle (Kyle) Witty, 19 great-grandchildren; Austin Kunert, Alexis (Jose) Camacho, Ariel Kunert, Allison Kunert, Addasyn Blosser, Elliana Blosser, William Blosser, Sylvia Blosser, Madeline Blosser, Danika Dickey, Rylan Dickey, Natalie Blosser, Connor Blosser, Nathan Blosser, Dodge Comstock, Yumajune Comstock, Axle Rayl, Hollis Harness, Reyna Witty, two brothers-in-law; Jerry (Pat) Skarbek, and Mel Kulwicki, two sisters in law; Carol Zalas and Barbara Skarbek.

Lillian was also predeceased in death by one Son Glenn Skarbek, Grandson Jamie Skarbek, Son-in-Law Kyle Harness, Granddaughter Dawn Skarbek, and three sisters, Lorraine Pace, Patricia Cain and Janet Thillman.

For anyone that knew Lillian, knew of her many hobbies. She was an avid reader, knitter, sewer, and one who talked about her great-grandchildren. She took pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian was known for making her children's wedding dresses, grandchildren's communion dresses, prom dresses, Halloween costumes and quilts. She took the time to teach her grandchildren skills that includes sewing, cooking and baking. She was also known for her pot holders and dish cloths, her grandchildren and great-children looked forward to them every year at Christmas. She was a great listener for any who needed an ear. She was very active until the end with her coloring, knitting and playing with her great-grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family and she will truly be missed.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 am on Saturday November 21, 2020 in Holy Family Catholic Church South Bend, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am in the church. Anyone attending the services is required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Lillian’s honor to Harbor Light Hospice 1820 E. Day Rd, Mishawaka, IN 4645.
