Richard T. "Dick" Hauguel

South Bend - On June 22, 2021, Richard (Dick) Hauguel, passed away quietly at Ernestine M. Raclin House - Center for Hospice Care surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born on November 16, 1935 in South Bend to Frank and Mary (Nemeth) Hauguel. On June 14, 1958 he married Janine A. Woltman who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Frank E. Hauguel.

Richard was employed by Fuller O'Brien Paint and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps.

He was a man of many passions. He played the saxophone and clarinet for six decades with polka bands including Stardusters, Jerry Kurdys and Jim Deka Trio. He enjoyed fishing from his own boat (Music Man) and later on the charter boat with Captain Dick Praklet.
He and Janine traveled regularly to Costa Rica and Florida. He also hunted, golfed and enjoyed winning the family Mexican Train Dominoes trophy.

His greatest love was for his family from his wife of 63 years to his daughters, Ann Marie Witek (Paul), Patricia Jo Herman (Ed) and Nancy Knapik (David); seven grandchildren, Krystin Martin (Earl), Michael Witek, Daniel Herman, Sarah Herman, Janice Jones (David), Allison Campbell (Bill) and Randy Knapik (Lauren); thirteen great-grandchildren, Luke, Bennett, Tessa, Juliet and Grant Martin; Logan Witek; Trevor, Chloe and Connor Jones; Quinn, Brody and Blair Campbell; Ruth Knapik; and puppy, Rusty. He relished seeing them, and spent many hours working on the pool for everyone's enjoyment. His tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and kohlrabi were delicious and grown with love for his family.

The family thanks the many doctors including Ronald Stangebye, DDS, Dr. Tod Huntley and Dr. Rashid Khan and the nurses and staff at Wellbrooke of South Bend and Raclin Hospice House who lovingly cared for Richard.
