Betty Ann (Wells) Pope

Betty Ann Pope, 66, dearly loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and sister, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 29, in Memorial Hospital after an illness of seven months. Betty was born to the union of John and Izola (Morrow) Wells on May 28, 1935, in Duluth, Ga., moving to South Bend, Ind., in 1942.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, John Wells Jr.
She was a graduate of the class of 1952 from Washington High School, and was a faithful employee of Zikers Cleaners for 29 years as a spotter.
Mrs. Pope leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Betty Darlene (Rodney) Diya, Deborah Sue Stuckey, Marilyn Darcella Pope, all of South Bend, Jolanda Corrine (Lance III) Adams of Elgin, Ill.; two sons, Darrell Andre Pope and Brian Bernard (Angela) Pope, both of S outh Bend; one brother, Willie C. (Margaret) Wells of Salinas, Calif.; two sisters, Annie R. Thomas and Doris A. (Alfred) Ross of South Bend; 17 grandchildren, Cynthia L. Pope, Michael H. Buchanan, Jermaine A. Pope, Damon Johnson, Darella L. Smith, Darnisha A. Pope, Sharine L. Phillips, Brian B. Pope Jr., Adrian L. Pope, Brian B. Jones, Shawanna M. Butler, Floyd B. Stuckey Jr., Yashika L. Stuckey, Jamie T. Smith, Jamisha A. Pope, Lance Adams III and Ashlei N. Adams; 22 great-grandchildren, Christopher D. Wilson, Lakechia N. Wilson, Brittany R. Wilson, Sherrell Smith, Brittany N. Buchanan, Aaron L. Buchanan, Jasmine N. Pope, Tianna Pope, Dejuan A. Wilson, Deja L. Pope, Deloriaze Smith, Latrisha D. Johnson, Neiamonie Johnson, Brianna T. Phillips, Breana S. Phillips, Breana C. Phillips, Bernard C. Phillips Jr., Bernard C. Phillips, Torrence Cutler, Jermone L. Butler Jr., Taneallia K. Butler and Nathias S. Butler; three great-great-grandchildren, Christopher D. Wilson Jr., Honesty M. Turner and Davejah D. Wilson; special daughter-in-law, Lydia Simmons of Indianapolis, Ind.; son-in-law, Floyd Stuckey Jr. of South Bend; sister-in-law, Melinda Wells, and stepmother, Helen Wells, both of South Bend. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who will really miss her cheerful smile and heartfelt greetings.
Her every thought was for her family. She loved all her grandchildren, and knew them all. Her greatest joy was to have them around her all the time. She resided with her beloved granddaughter, Cynthia Pope.
