SOUTH BEND - Helene L. Hamann, 83 of South Bend passed away the morning of Thursday, December 7, 2017 at home with her family by her side.

She was born on January 1, 1934 in South Bend to the late Edmond and Martina (DePaepe) VanHulle.

On August 9, 1952 in South Bend she married Thomas A. Hamann who preceded her in death on August 3, 2002. Helene was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Hamann, two sisters, Gabriella Synave and Delphine Thorman and a brother, Maurice VanHulle.

Helene is survived by her two daughters, Janet L. Hamann and Bridgett A. Stein both of South Bend; her son, Robert A. (Debbie) Hamann of South Bend; a special niece, Gayle (Virgil) Diaz of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, TJ and David Stein, Bill (Diana) Hamann and Heidi Roman and three great grandchildren, Chris and Louis Santos and Carson Roman all who she loved and cherished.

She was the former owner of Hamann Mobile Home Park in South Bend. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, going shopping and out to lunch with her friends and family.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tim Stewart officiating.
