Edward Steve Szymczak

October 20, 1933 ~ October 28, 2023 (age 90)

Edward S. Szymczak age 90 passed away at 1:17 am October 28, 2023. A longtime resident of South Bend Edward was born on October 20, 1933, to Stanley and Pauline (Walushka) Szymczak. They preceded him in death along with his brother Joseph and Larry. On November 12, 1955, he married Levada Smith who preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memories are his children Donna (Szymczak) and John Troyer, Barbara (Szymczak) Cribbs, and Edward and Tara Szymczak, along with his brother John Szymczak and sister-in-law Patricia Szymczak. He has four grandchildren Tina Waltrowski, Jim Troyer, Steven and Stephanie Szymczak. He has seven great grandchildren Victoria, Aaron, Alexis, Anthony, Bryson, Grayson V and Grayson S. He has many nieces and nephews who all loved him. He was a Godfather to several of his nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank Connie, his caregiver that has served him almost daily since May 2022. The family could not have done his care without her.

Edward retired from Uniroyal; and he served in the USMC. His hobbies were painting, an author of poetry and had several published books, Composer of music and loved singing. He ran in the Sunburst and the Chicago Marathon. Ed also fished and hunted. He was a member of St. Anthony Church for years and was very active in his church.

The service will be November 4, 2023, at Palmer’s Bubb Chapel, 3910 N Main Street, Mishawaka, IN 46545 viewing 11:00am-1:00pm, funeral immediately following, with Gravesite services at Fairview Cemetery to follow.
