Bernice J. (Parker) Chatman

Bernice J. "Bonnie" Chatman, 66, of 317 South Kenmore Street, South Bend, Ind., expired on Sunday, Aug. 29, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She was born on Feb. 12, 1933, in South Bend. She received her formal education in the South Bend School Corporation and graduated from Washington High School.

As a teenager, Bonnie began serving as a pianist-organist at many of the churches in South Bend. She served as the pianist-organist at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church for the past several years, and was a faithful member until the end. She was fondly known as Bonnie.

She is survived by her son, Anthony Chatman of South Bend; a brother, Marion Sylvester Chatman, also of South Bend; other relatives and many Christian friends. Bonnie will be loved and missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 1, in Grace A.M.E. Church, followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home is entrusted with services
