SOUTH BEND - Estella James, 77, of West Washington Avenue, South Bend, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 6:30 a.m. in Morningside Nursing Home of South Bend.
Estelle was born to Thomas J. Schofield and Odell Quisenderry Schofield on November 22, 1932, in Pryorsburg, KY. In 1943 Estella relocated to South Bend, Indiana. In 1954 she united with Pilgrim Baptist Church under Pastor Charles G. Rolett, and remained a faithful member under the pastorship of H. Gregory Haygood where she served faithfully as a deaconess and missionary until her health declined.
To cherish her memory are her loving son, Michael Thomas James; two sisters, Helen Darnell (Robert Lester) Green and Lavoda Walker, both of South Bend; niece, Kathleen Denise Green of South Bend; and a host of cousins, other relatives, Pilgrim Baptist Church family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Estelle was loved by all and will be truly missed by many.
