SCOTTSBORO, AL - Memorial service will be January 10, 2015, at 1:00 pm at Lakeside Baptist Church, 515 Michigan Lane, Lakeville, Indiana. Lawrence Olson passed away peacefully on Christmas Day after a battle with cancer in Princeton, Alabama, where he wanted to spend his last days looking at the mountain.

He married his love, Joyce (Hamel) Olson, Oct. 12, 1956, and spent 54 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death, and their son, Ramon K. Olson, preceded them in death.

Surviving them are nine children, Renee (Michael) Horth, Tina (Eric) Wilk, Jenny (John) Horvath, Rebecca Steffen, Monica (Ed) Bernhard, Kurt Olson, Cindy (Rob) Emmans, Tommy Olson, Tony Olson. They had 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army. He retired from the South Bend Post Office, and was a lifelong member of the First Church of the Nazarene in South Bend. He also was a hospice volunteer for 12 years until he became too ill to do so. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and left behind many dear friends. Larry also attended with his son-in-law at Lakeside Baptist Church in Lakeville, IN, where he was always warmly welcomed, and enjoyed old hymns and the on fire preaching of the Gospel of Jesus.
