Mary Jane Nowak

SOUTH BEND - Mary Jane Nowak, 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Millers Merry Manor in New Carlisle, IN. She was born to the late Thomas and Rose (Kaczorowski) Nowak in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Vellutato and Evelyn McGonigal; one brother, Daniel Nowak; and one brother-in-law, John Vellutato.

Mary Jane worked for 23 years as an Auditor for the Morris Inn at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to that, she worked at Associates in South Bend, IN.

Mary Jane is survived by two nieces, Patricia (Ken Prager) Smith of South Bend, IN and Karen (Robert) of South Bend, IN and Karen (Robert) Marano of Sewell, NJ; three nephews, Thomas (Mary) McGonigal of Waukegan, IL, John (Janet) Vellutato of Lewisville, TX, and Mark Vellutato of Atlantic City, NJ; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; seven great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Nowak of South Bend, IN.

Mary Jane enjoyed going to the casinos, and spending time with her great- great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
