James Leroy “Ziggy” Lula

May 21, 1933 - May 11, 2013

SOUTH BEND - James L. Lula, 79, passed away at 10:22 pm Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Cardinal Nursing Home.

Ziggy was born in South Bend to the late Bert and Eleanor (Szczypoprski) Lula. Ziggy was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Bert Lula. On September 27, 1985, in South Bend, James married Barbara (Dargiewicz) Lula; she survives along with his children, Margaret Lula, Kenneth and John Lula, all of South Bend; three stepchildren, Barbie Rekos of South Bend, Jon (Lucy) Klaudusz of South Bend and Timothy Klaudusz of Sparks, NV; six grandchildren & four great-grandchildren; and by his two sisters, Patricia (Jack) Barsodi of Bremen and Sherry (Ted) Kubusiak of South Bend.

Ziggy served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War; and he retired in 1995 from South Bend Water Works as a Heavy Equipment Supervisor. Ziggy also was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend. He was a past commander of the D.A.V. and was a member of the American Legion Post #303; Ziggy also enjoyed tinkering in his garage, gardening and cars.
