Raymond J. Lekarczyk
June 30, 1933 - March 13, 2003
Raymond J. Lekarczyk, 69, of Marcellus, Mich., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away following a brief illness at 8:05 a.m.Thursday, March 13, in his residence. He was born on June 30, 1933, to the late Bert “Brownie” and the late Carrie (Szymanski) Lekarczyk in South Bend. Raymond had lived on Big Fish Lake in Marcellus since 1992, coming from South Bend. Mr. Lekarczyk retired in 1980 from the Weyerhaeuser Company in South Bend after 20 years of service.
On Aug.18, 1956, he married Maryann Hernicz in South Bend. She died on April 3, 1977. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Lekarczyk.
On May 10, 1980, he married Sharon L.(Krill) Tomsits in South Bend. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Nancy A. (Larry) Turtle of Marcellus and Karen R.(John) Croyle of Three Rivers, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Holly M.(Marc) Hurst of Noblesville, Ind., and Heather S. Tomsits at home; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce A.(Walt) Jastrzebski of Marcellus; and by one brother, Bert (Muriel) Lekarczyk of South Bend.
Mr. Lekarczyk was a U.S.Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 624 in Roseland, Ind. Raymond was an avid Notre Dame sports fan, and loved to fish. He enjoyed, most of all, spending time with his family and being at the lake.
There will be no visitation. Private family services will be held. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements
