Eugene Joseph “Gene” Hoath

Eugene Joseph Hoath, affectionately known as "Gene" to family and friends, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Monday, September 18th at the age of 91. He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late John Wesley Hoath and Bernadette (Ouellette) Hoath on March 12th, 1932.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Wilma (Long) Hoath, his son David Hoath, grandsons Aris Hoath (Julia) and Geno Hoath, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Elizabeth (Hoath) Adams and Joseph Hoath. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Hoath.

Gene married his wife Wilma on June 11th, 1955.

He was the sole owner and operator of Gene Hoath Landscaping for over 35 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, as well as hunting in Wyoming and Iowa. He was also the proud owner and restorer of a maroon 1936 Ford Club Cabriolet, "Clickety Clack" and a purple 1940 Ford Deluxe, "Barney". Throughout the years, he enjoyed traveling the country and camping with his wife, friends, and family.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
