Leonard J. Martynowicz, 81, of Sugar Pine Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 1:10 p.m. on Monday, May 29, Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. He was born on March 15, 1919, Chicago, Ill., and lived in this area most of his life. Mr. Martynowicz retired on July 1, 1981, from the Bendix Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Marie Martynowicz; a brother, Theodore Martynowicz; and by a sister, Dorothy Rodick.

On Sept. 27, 1941, in South Bend, Ind., he married Carrie Chwalek, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Frances Martynowicz of Mishawaka; two sons, Lenny (Marilyn) Martynowicz of Mishawaka and Jim (Cindy) Martynowicz of Cassopolis, Mich.; two grandchildren, Michael (Mindy) Martynowicz of North Manchester, Ind., and Brett Martynowicz of Cassopolis; and by two sisters, Geraldine Sobecki of Mishawaka and Irene Martin of South Bend.

Mr. Martynowicz was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the South Bend Liberty Pigeon Club.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, May 31, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, in the funeral home, with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery
