Raymond V. Markiewicz, 81 , of South Jackson St., South Bend, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2001 in Livonia, Mich. He was born on Feb. 10,1920, in South Bend, Ind., to John and Mary (Kitkowski) Markiewicz.

On May 10, 1947, in South Bend he married Phyllis (Rusiecki) who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Janice (Steven) Thompson, Nashville, Tenn.; one son, James (Kathie) Markiewicz of Northville, Mich.; four grandchildren, Amy (Markiewicz) Tyman, Daniel Markiewicz, Matthew Thompson and Nathan Thompson.

He had been employed at the former Studebaker Corporation for 20 years and allied Products for 22 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Markiewicz was a member of American Legion Post 357, a World War II veteran, St. Casimir Ushers Club, St. Casimir Holy Name, and the Seniors Club of St. Casimir Catholic Parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edward, Frank and Joseph; two sisters, Clara Audenaert and Louise Andrysiak.

Friends and family may call at the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 South Mayflower Road, South Bend, on May 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 2:30 p.m. Services will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 29, at 10 a.m. followed by, entombment, at, St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memoriaf contributions may be made to St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1 308 W. Dunham Street, South Bend, IN 46619.
