Alice M. (Lekens) Meuleman

June 24, 1920 - Sept. 17, 2000

Alice M. Meuleman, 80, of N. Adams Street, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, in Hospice House. Mrs. Meuleman was born on June 24, 1920, in South Bend to Arthur and Marie (DeBlock) Lekens and was a lifetime area resident.

On Nov. 26, 1941 in South Bend as Alice M. Lekens, she married Albert A. Meuleman, who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Connon and Mae DeCaussemaker; and by one brother, Camel Lekens.

She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Bishop of South Bend; three sons, John Meuleman of South Weymouth, Mass., Paul Meuleman of Manchester, N.H., and Philip Meuleman of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by 10 grandchildren, Daniel, Robin, Keri, David, Brian, Steven, Sarah, and Matthew Meuleman and Anthony and Jeff Bishop.

Mrs. Meuleman was a dedicated member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and Harvest House. Alice was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend and spent her life totally devoted to those people she loved.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1520 Vassar Avenue, with. Rev. Steven Sedlock CSC officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 20, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Memorial, contributions may be made to the church or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637
