Joseph J. Laiber

July 2, 1920 - Nov 28, 1989

SOUTH BEND - Joseph J. Laiber, 69, of 1332 Hampshire Drive died about 2:10 p.m. Monday, in Memorial Hospital after an apparent heart attack. Mr. Laiber was a teacher at Edison Middle School and taught Mathematics at John Adams High School in South Bend. He had been employed 43 years by the South Bend Community School Corp. He was born July 2, 1920, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Dec. 26, 1953, in Gary he married Antoinette Valenti. She survives with two daughters, Jeannine Hartman and Jennifer Laiber both of South Bend; two grandchildren; and a brother, Steve of South Bend.

His mother, Mary Laiber. died on June 16, and a sister, Mary Lula, died Aug. 14.

He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a veteran of World War II.

Private services will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the Log Chapel at the University of Notre Dame. Cremation will take place. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Zahoran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
