Evelyn M. (Kovach) Shelby
June 7, 1921 - June 2, 1998 MISHAWAKA - Evelyn Shelby, 76, of Northwood Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 3:42 on Tuesday, June 2, in her residence. Evelyn was born on June 7, 1921, in South Bend, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident.
She retired from the Uniroyal Corporation in 1981 after 20 years of service as a secretary. Evelyn Kovach married James Wayne in 1966 in South Bend. He passed away in 1988. On Nov. 27, 1993, in Mishawaka, Evelyn married Jim P. Shelby, who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Patricia Seifer of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Linda Minne of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Shannon and Rachel Denney of South Bend, and Scott and Mark Minne of South Bend; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Hallin of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and by a brother, Edward Kovach of South Bend.
Evelyn Wayne Shelby was a beautiful, courageous and generous person. Her favorite poem was "Life is mostly froth and bubble, Two things stand like stone, Kindness in another's trouble, Courage in your own." Evelyn was a member of the Uniroyal Ladies Club and the Mishawaka Eagles Auxiliary.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County
