Laura Pearl (Hodge) Tidwell

Laura P. Tidwell, 86, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She was born October 16, 1920, in Winamac, IN, to Leroy W. and Maude (Deck) Hodge, and had been a lifelong resident of South Bend.

On August 3, 1940, in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Herman J. Csenar, who passed away on February 23, 1973. Then on November 11, 1977, in South Bend, she married William Tidwell, who also preceded her in death on December 7, 1983. A sister, Margaret McGaffey, and two brothers, Russ Hodge and Wayne Hodge, also preceded her.

Mrs. Tidwell is survived by six children, Carolyn (John) Mulloy of Columbus, IN, Kathleen (Mike) Nemes of South Bend, IN, Tom (Carol) Csenar of Huntington Beach, CA, Darlene (Rick) Walker of Omaha, NE, Debbie (Nick) Blaskoski of Sterling, VA, and Linda Hall of Huntington Beach, CA. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joy (Frank) Duddleson of South Bend.

Mrs. Tidwell was employed for 15 years as manager of the Robertson's Tea Room. She also volunteered at Hamilton Grove Communities.

Private graveside services will be today, Wednesday, August 15, at Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family requests that contributions in memory of Laura P. Tidwell be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, P.O. Box 318, Memphis, TN 38101. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, is assisting the Tidwell family with funeral arrangements.
